Insurance & pricing

what's covered, and what it costs

No surprises. Here's how exams and eyewear are paid for, whichever way we visit you.

eye exams & OHIP

OHIP covers one full eye exam every 12 months for Ontario residents who are:

  • Aged 19 and under
  • Aged 65 and over
  • Aged 20–64 with an eligible medical condition (for example diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease, or on a qualifying medication)

Everyone else pays a private exam fee, which most extended health plans reimburse. Bring your health card to every visit.

OHIP eligibility rules change from time to time — we'll confirm your coverage when you book.

direct billing

We bill most major insurance providers directly for both exams and eyewear, so you only pay any remaining balance on the day. Bring your plan details (carrier, policy and member number). Commonly billed carriers include:

Sun Life
Manulife
Canada Life
Green Shield
Blue Cross
Desjardins
Equitable Life
GroupHEALTH

Don't see your provider? Ask — we can usually bill it, or give you a receipt to submit yourself.
